Personal Stories

Behind the names in the Garden are the stories of our loved ones. Once headlines of the murders fade away, these victims are sometimes forgotten by all but their families.

It is important that we tell the stories of the lives they lived. So that we can all remember what has been lost.

The theme for our 4th Annual Honor Program was “Hope and Remembrance.” To remember those we love who were taken from us by acts of violence and all homicide victims is the easy part. We will never forget. What is not so easy is to find the hope symbolized by the sculpture in our Garden. When something like this happens, there is not much that we have left except a choice. It is a choice between despair and hope. A choice between anger and grief… and love. It was hope and remembrance…and love…that created this Garden.

By sharing the stories of our loved ones, we ask the world to remember their lives. And we hope that these stories will inspire all of us to work for a world of peace filled with hope.
